Crown Port

Overview[]

The Crown Port is one of the game's buildings. It is unlocked at Kingdom Level 32. You will be placed into a group of others whom you can plunder and be plundered by, as well as fight over territories with. Groupings are based on Battle Group (see table below) and Kingdom Level (two groups: 32-60 and 61+).

When you open the Royal Crown Port you get a menu with 9 options:

  • Crown Port - For upgrading the port itself.
  • Fleet HQ, Naval Defense, and Fleet Academy'''' - For upgrading various specific aspects of the port.
  • Recruit Sailors - For recruiting sailors. Basically Barracks for Crown Port fighting, though only unlocked heroes can be arranged.
  • Naval Tactics - For rearranging sailors, which is redundant. The same can be done in the Dock Tavern ("Recruit Sailors").
  • View Fleet - For viewing some statistics of your port fleet.
  • Captain's Log - For viewing a list of recent activity related to your fleet.
  • Set Sail - For entering the world where the actual port activities happen!

Battle Power and Sailors[]

Within the Crown Port the BP is calculated by a formula separate from the rest of the game. The Port BP is determined by the strength of your Heroes and Hero upgrades and by the Port level and Technology upgrades. Increasing Port BP increases World BP equally. If this weren't the case, Crown Port would not be worth your time and gold!

The Crown Port has its own soldiers (sailors) which are separate from the Barracks soldiers. The limits of their numbers are set by the Crown Port level. The soldier's strength is increased by leveling up the Technology. The Crown Port soldiers are recruited in the Dock Tavern (Recruit Sailors) separately from the Barracks soldiers.

When some heroes are yet to be acquired their future soldiers are called "sailors" and are much weaker than soldiers with heroes.

Daily Sails[]

Each day players are given 5 free explorations/occupations and 3 free plunderings. Each additional sail costs 6 Diamonds.

Exploration[]

Uses one sail (five are free per day). To explore you must pick one of the available territories on a map. Each territory has its own list of possible rewards and of monsters guarding it. Within each sail, you can explore an area multiple times. The first exploration is free, the 2nd and 3rd cost 200 Gold (Barbarossa Sea) or 400 Gold (Blue Coast) and the 4th costs 3 diamonds. VIP 2 grants a fifth exploration that costs ??.

After an exploration you will get random items from the drop table and possibly have to fight the guarding monsters. You lose sailors and gain Honor Stars during the fight. Once you are done with exploring, you must return to the port (Sail Round). The "Back" button is available immediately and you can return to the game and you may want to adjust the number of soldiers. However, your ship with the explored goods will take 30 minutes to return. During this time, you will be unable to explore or occupy any territories.

During that time the ship is vulnerable to Plundering by other players. If you have soldiers defending the ship and the ship is attacked you will lose some soldiers in the battle and get Honor Stars for them. Unless you are one of the top players in your Battle Group it is safe to assume that your ship will be attacked almost every time it sails.

Each ship can be Plundered only once during the 30 min or lower (depending on your upgrades) of sailing back. If the soldiers defend the ship successfully against the Plundering player you will receive all the explored goods at the end of the 30 min time. If the defense fails some of the explored goods (100% - Mid-sail Repair Level, with a 50% result being rounded down) will be lost to the Plundering player.

Each exploration increases the territory's explore bar by 3-5 units.

Tip: Sometimes it happens that you don't have money on 2nd or 3rd exploration. At that moment your only in-game option will be "sail back". You can avoid this by refreshing the page and returning to exploration site when you'll have enough money to do it.

Items from exploration are used to level up the Crown Port and Technologies. If a specific item is needed and it is not available from the last territory, you may want to explore a previous territory that gives that item.

Unlocking New Territories[]

KotPortunlocks

Shows unlocked destinations

New territories are unlocked by exploring. Unlocks can only occur while exploring the 'last' unlocked zone. If you do not have any new areas unlocked, explore the herd at the far right to unlock the following destination. To unlock the first new zone, explore the herd, labeled #1 on the image at right (click the image to expand it). This will unlock #2. Explore #2 to unlock #3. Explore #3 to unlock #4, etc. The 8th unlock will be the first "medium" exploration site.

There is no guarantee that the next zone will be unlocked before the Explore Bar of the previous zone is filled. Based on minimal data, there is something in the ballpark of a 17% chance to unlock a new zone with each exploration. You can help improve this estimate by adding your explore bar numbers to the table below:

Port Explore Bar value at unlock of next
1 90, 40
2 136, 13
3 34, 22
4 49, 193
5 24, 200+
6 80, 67

In order to unlock Blue Coast (the region after Barbarossa Sea), contrary to the rumours there is NO NEED for all previous explore bars to be filled up. However, if you want to have all zones in the Barbarossa Sea fully explored for 100% completion, it's recommended to do so before moving onwards to Blue Coast, because the older resources will become more and more worthless as your port advances. This requires an average of 392 triple explorations, equivalent to 75 days with no occupations (without spending diamonds). An additional advantage of fully exploring all the 'old' zones is that it will give you plenty of Blue Fairies for port upgrades.

Plundering[]

In addition to exploration, you can conduct limited PvP. During the 30 minutes during which ships return from exploration, they may be targeted for an attack.

Players receive 3 free attacks per day and may spend diamonds for additional attacks. The cooldown time is 5 minutes. The ships available to plunder are also reset by the same timer.

Success will steal a portion of the treasure the other ship is bringing back from it's exploration. This cannot steal any resources you have already brought back.

Ships may be Plundered only once during their 30 min voyage back. If you try to Plunder a ship that has already been plundered once you will be turned down. Also, a ship may return to port before the map refreshes. In that case your attempt will also be turned down.

Occupation[]

Crown Port - Occupation Garrison

Uses one sail (five are free per day). Limited to 1 occupation at a time (VIP level increases this limit). There is no cool down time after an occupation started or after it finished. Another territory can be explored or another ship can be plundered immediately after the occupation started.

Occupying a territory does not increase explore bar points.

It is not possible to occupy and explore the same territory at the same time.

The maximum time to occupy a territory is 4 hours. If you successfully occupy a territory for full 4 hours you get full Sailing Treasure reward. If you occupy a larger territory you get more rewards (see Occupation Reward below). For the first 10 minutes of an occupation the occupying player is invulnerable to attacks.

The value of a reward from a full occupation is much higher than what is possible to receive from an Exploration. However, Blue Fairy and any items not specific to the Crown Port are not included in Sailing Treasure. Therefore, a player must Explore as well as Occupy to be able to upgrade Crown Port and port Technologies.

When you attack a territory to occupy, you either fight against another player currently occupying or infesting monsters like when you explore. If you win, you get 200 gold in Barbarossa Sea and 400 Gold in Blue Coast.

To defend a territory you need to place your soldiers into a garrison (that territory only) up to your maximum deployable amount - with an option to automatically recruit new soldiers should you lose any to an attack. These additional soldiers will be drawn from your "Available soldiers" in the Dock Tavern. No additional soldiers will actually be recruited.

To aid you in the defense of occupation against attackers, up to 5 players can assist you and they can each add up to 30% of your maximum deployable number of soldiers. Assist slots 1 and 2 are open to all and opening slots 3 - 5 depends on the VIP level of the occupying player (2, 5 and 7 respectfully).

After a successful occupation, your sailors are returned and the sailors of the assisting players. If there was an attack on your occupying force, soldiers lost in battle will not be returned.

Occupation Reward[]

Territory Time occupied Sailing Treasures Max Gold Barbarossa Sea** Max Gold Blue Coast**
Small Area 4 hours 12 400 600
Average Area 4 hours 16 400 ?
Large Area 4 hours 24 400 ?

* This table is valid for both Barbarossa Sea and Blue Coast, except for the maximum amount of gold, which seems to be higher in Blue Coast.

** Not sure why gold is sometimes given. Maybe it has something to do with # of assists. Unfortunately, Captain's Log does not show entries regarding occupation, or their assists, so no help there. (Believed to be based on number of players who explored the spot you were occupying, while you were occupying it).

Assisting[]

To assist a player you go to the occupation-screen and click "assist' below an empty icon near the bottom. The rewards for deploying some of you sailors is rather low. The sailor quantity asked for is 30% of the Occupiers' total sailor count. You can get 1 or 2 Sailing Treasures. One chest will be awarded to you if the occupation ends prematurely (is taken over by another player). This only counts for the occupying person, you cannot be kicked from an assisting-spot. Two chests are given to you when the occupier succeeds his occupation for the full duration (4 hours).

If the occupying player loses to another, then your sailors are forfeit (not returned), including when he/she reaches the maximum occupation time.

Since one chest given a random material or 150 gold (and gold seems to drop most often), and 4258 - 4285 soldiers can be recruited for 150 gold. It would be safe to assist below that amount of soldiers, or less than double that if you are certain the occupation will be successful.

Strategy[]

If territories are available, it is often a good idea to occupy just before exploring. If these are done in the opposite order, you will have to wait 30 minutes in order to occupy.

This section should contain tips on what to upgrade, and when. It should also explain if its a good idea to go for fast exploring the next area (Blue Coast). Something about the reward/risk with pirating returning ships.
Occupation might need a section of its own, but otherwise it can be included here. Jeahra (talk) 06:56, June 6, 2015 (UTC)

According from an e-mail of the developers, there is a 2% chance for unlocking an area every time you explore. So unlocking a new area has NOTHING to do with Kingdom level or Crown Port level.
